Glass Distillation Column

A glass distillation column is a precision-engineered system designed for the separation and purification of liquid mixtures based on differences in boiling points. Manufactured using high-quality borosilicate glass, these columns offer excellent chemical resistance, thermal stability, and full process visibility.

Glass distillation columns are widely used in laboratory, pilot plant, and small-scale industrial applications where corrosion resistance, purity, and visual monitoring are critical.

Key Components

Glass Column Body:

Transparent vertical structure made from borosilicate glass, allowing clear observation of the distillation process.

Column Internals (Packing / Trays):

High-efficiency glass packing or structured internals that enhance vapor-liquid contact for improved separation performance.

Glass Reboiler:

Positioned at the bottom, used to heat the feed mixture and generate vapor for separation.

Glass Condenser:

Mounted at the top, it cools vapors into liquid form using efficient heat exchange.

Reflux Divider / Receiver:

Controls the reflux ratio by returning a portion of condensed liquid back into the column while collecting the purified distillate.

Receivers / Collection Vessels:

Borosilicate glass containers used for collecting top and bottom products with high purity.

Working Principle

The feed mixture is heated in the glass reboiler, producing vapors that rise through the column. As vapors pass through the packing, they interact with descending liquid, enabling efficient heat and mass transfer.

Due to differences in boiling points, lighter components move upward and condense at the top, while heavier components settle at the bottom. The transparent glass construction allows real-time monitoring of the entire process, ensuring better control and safety.
